More than once I’ve heard my female girl-the-friends tell me that baking or cooking is sexy. While their comments comes in many different versions, the gist of it tends to be the same.
“If he bakes for me I’m so going to marry him.”
OR…
“The cookies he made for me on Valentine’s Day just made me die on the spot.”
Hmmm, be careful, guys, baking can lead to life and death situations. Haha.
For those alpha males or (MCP )chauvinistic pigs, I should like to remind you that the world has changed and cooking/baking is no longer the work of “a wuss or sissy”. Sexual equality is now the in thing, and the fact that most of the top chefs in the world are actually males, should make baking a rather cool thing actually.
So, as a newbie going into the kitchen for the first time, what should you first attempt to make? I humbly suggest baking brownies because you simply cannot go wrong with that. Its dummy proof and should be manageable even for the most inept of people. I have included a step by step guide to aid you in the creation of your masterpiece.
Quick & Easy Chocolate Brownie Recipe (taken from Hershey’s Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate box)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine
8-oz semi-sweet baking chocolate, broken into pieces
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1. Heat oven . Oil baking pan.
2. Combine sugar, evaporated milk and butter in medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils; remove from heat. Add chocolate, stirring until melted; beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt until well blended; pour into prepared pan.
3. Bake 30-35 minutes or until brownies just begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan. Cut into squares. Frost, if desired.
Viola, and there you have your work of art, your creation, your key to a woman’s heart. Just remember to use it wisely. Try not cause any unnecessary “deaths” .
and be sure to save me a piece of it.
Now if only Leah Dizon would sample my brownies. Hmm…
