I used to work with a client, though not in the perfume industry. She told me that Parallel imports and retail shops have big difference in quality. Reason is the manufacturers will pack and ship the products to the distributers and retailers properly. Things like optimum temperature, storage and lifespan will be adhered to closely, so that the product will be sold to consumers in the best condition, they don wanna risk complaints from consumers. Most of this distibutors have proper storage facilities in each country to store the items properly.
What the parallel importers do is that they buy direct and just ship via normal shipping, just like when we buy from overseas online shops. So cannot gurantee condition, and u sometimes see dented boxes etc.. some parallel importers also buy at sales etc from the manufacturers. The lifespan of the products may be short as u don know when the product is manufactured, and the shipping can take very very long as they will take the cheapest form of transport, going through many ports of different climates before reaching Singapore. That's why sometimes the smell goes off very quickly.
Retailers also usually follow the recommended retail price set by the manufacturers, this is of course higher than their own cost price as they also need to earn, pay for rental, advertising etc.
Just my 2 cents worth, if you really want cheaper perfumes, buy at DFS. DFS or counter are both under same company/distributor. But because its considered different 'market', its priced differently.
Over Toa payoh, the pink beauty can get, think it's quite cheap.
BVL guys one only 30+ or 40+ for the big bottle.
can ask them for tester package, its cheaper.
tester package is in cardboard.
the correct spots to spritz is wrists and behind ears. Not underarm, nor clothes- will create stains.
EDT: has the least perfume concentration of all of them, so it gives a light gentle fragrance. it's also the cheapest.
EDP: has the next highest perfume concentration, is quite expensive. this is the more common type of perfumes sold over the counters.
Perfume: has the higihest concentration of perfume, can last the longest, also the most expensive!
Personally I use EDP, and even now at after 8 hours the smell is still there. I think perfumes might be too expensive for the little amount they give.
