Of warriors

Once upon a time, there was a shield hanging high up on a tree. Two warriors meet each other with the shield in the midst. The first warrior saw it and commented: “What a nice silver shield!” The other warrior saw it and said:” Wow! What a beautiful golden shield!” The first warrior said:” No! It is a nice Silver Shield!” The other warrior said: “You are wrong! It is a beautiful golden shield!” The first warrior argued: “You are the one who is wrong! It is a nice silver shield!” The other warrior retaliates back: “No, you are wrong! It is a beautiful golden shield!” They argued for a long time insisting that they are right.

In the end, they draw out their sword to fight with each other. They are evenly matched and they fight vigorously for a long time just because they insisted they are right. No one give in to the other. Eventually they killed each other. When they collapsed, then they knew that they were both right. Why is that so?

It is because one side of the shield is made of silver and the other side of the shield is made of gold. The two warriors died unnecessary, just because they are impulsive and they did not hear from others. They insisted they are right but they paid a high stake with their life. This is a fatal mistakes and this mistake can be avoided.

This story teaches us an important lesson; we must never ever jump into conclusion. It is fatal to jump into conclusion. Come to think about it, don’t we made the same mistakes as the warriors in our life. We are self-centre. We think that we are right and others are in the wrong. It is time for us reflect on ourselves and it is wise for us to look things in different angle, so that we have an overall view and not to made fatal mistakes.
