The Chinese word 相信 can be further broken down to "mutual trust between words"
In the article below, this man believe in himself.

If you ever pass by the streets of Orchard, particularly between Tangs towards Shaw Tower(Lido Cinema) 's underground passageway, you might catch a glimpse of a street performer, standing perfectly still and motionless there sometimes in full silver clothes and makeup.
He is none other then my ex secondary schoolmate, Allan.
The Allan i remembered back those days in secondary school(Serangoon Garden Techinical) was a guy whom like magic, and he did alot of magic tricks things to impress his friends. but perhaps his passion was not taken seriously, and more often then not, classmates misunderstood him, labelling him as the class clown, or the class out cast. but despite being putted down, he continued to believe. back then i wasn't part of his class, and naturally whatever he did/ did not do, didn't really allow me to create any impression of him. All my memory of him was enthusiastic chap sitting in front ,always eager to help, and lots of showmanship.
His acheivements now only prove his passion, determination and his perseverance. Performing Art is Singapore is still NOT recognized in my most humble of opinion, but he did it, despite of all odds. A man with bold dreams and not afraid to chase them. Adults often lose their bold youthful dreams when they fall into their comfort zone, and they have too much to lose. family commitments, pay cuts, etcetera.
He might never know this, but as an acquittance, I'm truly proud of him. To know there's one more man out there, doing in what he believes in, and what he fought for. To him,it might be merely his dreams, or passion. To me, i see as a man fighting hard for what he believed in.
Kudos to you, Allan.
So when was the last time you believe in yourself, in doing something you think you cannot?
